Jikji

The original name of 「Jikji」 is 「Baegun Hwasang Chorok Buljo Jikjisimcheyojeol」. This book is regarded as the best textbook in Zen Buddhism, compiled in volumes 1 and 2 by Baegun Hwasang to abstract only the important parts of the sermons on the essence of the mind of the Buddha and the patriarches.

The content of 「Jikji」 is an abstract of the enlightenment about Zen of 145 people, including the past 7 Buddhas, 28 patriarches in India, and 110 Zen masters in China, that is, the teachings of the serenity of mind.

「Jikji」 was published in metal type at Heungdeoksa Temple in Cheongju in July 1377 (the 3rd year of King Uwang of Goryeo), when Seokchan and Daljam received a donation from Myodeok, and is now housed in the National Library of France. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2001.
